Entering Kona airport on Big Island in Hawaii
First evening in Hawaii: relaxing on the balcony of our hotel
A beautiful Hawaiian evening on the last day 2000
Having fun capturing ocean waves with our new digital camera
Hiking to Kahuna Falls
Hiking to Kahuna Falls 2
Kahuna Falls were a major KLPD!
They were more like a naalaa
Akaka Falls were less of a KLPD
at Akaka Falls
At the mouth of a crater
Walking on brittle earth
Steam billowing from the earth
I like this pic. We were exploring the crater. It was getting dark too.
Inside a lava tube on a bright day! These tubes actually had lava flowing through them at one time.
Rainforest near the crater
Zoomed in view of volcanic lava. Could feel the heat from miles away.
I like this pic too.
This is at the Black Sand Beach.
Black Sand Beach again.
The first evening of 2001. I remember it was extremely pleasant. Weather never disappoints in Hawaii.
We grew quite fond of this tree close to our hotel. I'm standing just below it.
One of my favorite pics.
First evening of 2001 again.
Another one of my favorites.
Waiting at a breakfast table in a seaside restaurant.
The wait was getting longer.
and longer...
and longer...
The wait was getting unbearable now. She's wondering whether to tip the waitress or not.
Off para-sailing.
That's us!
Enjoying the cool breeze.
Me too!
Off snorkeling.
Still busy snorkeling the hell out of marine animals.
ok, had enough.
We managed to squeeze a helicopter ride on the last day.
The noise of the chopper was deafening.
Captain Ruchi in control. Nothing to fear.
Phata hua volcano.
Ek aur angle.
Fantastic aerial view of molten earth that has recently solidified.
Molten lava visible even during the day.
More lava.
More land forming constantly due to lava flowing into the ocean and solidifying.
Distant view of the volcano on our way back. It's probably extinct, but continues to fume. Bye bye Hawaii.
